The park in Strathalbyn is in the centre of the town and incorporates a river and several ponds. Many water birds live in the ponds including Black Swan, Black Duck, Wood Duck, Dusky Moorhen and Little Pied Cormorant.
The trees surrourding the ponds are the home of a large flock of Little Corella. These gregarious birds, a bit like small Sulphur-crested Cockatoo with the small white crest in place of the large yellow one, are very vocal and make a tremendous noise when they are all disturbed by some unseen, unseeable Corrella spook.
On the way back to Willunga we stopped at Meadows and visited the Country Craft Market but we left soon after. We had lunch in the Kuitpo Forest in the quiet shade of beautiful, tall, stately gum trees, yet another example of the power of the Motley to provide otherwise unattainable experiences.
Attended the Fringe Festival performance of Under Milk Wood in the Old Quarry in Willunga with the night sky as the backdrop. While the narrator was a professional, all the other parts were taken by local amateurs. The performance while a little rough around the edges, was enjoyable and well worth the price, the time and the effort.
On to the caravan park in McLaren Vale for the night.
