Leaving the Copeton Dam, we drove to Bingara along the Gwyder River valley,.
This is absolutely magnificent country with well wooded hills on either side, lush grassland and a beautiful, slow-flowing river winding gentle along the valley floor.
We saw another Lace Monitor on the road as well as a Rabbit, a Brown Quail and a flock of Straw-necked Ibis.
There was so little traffic on the road that I was able to stop and closely observe three Wedge-tailed Eagles hunting right overhead and very close to the ground.
The weather has indeed improved as we have travelled west. The day was so good that we stopped in Bingara to do the laundry.
