Leaving Forrest Beach, we investigated Lucinda just up the coast. Its only claim to fame is its 5 km long sugar loading jetty. We lunched and left.
We went inland to visit the Broadwater State Forest Park. This is a beautiful place with both rainforest and dry sclerophyll forest and a wonderful swimming hole in the creek which runs beside the park. There are separate areas for camping and day use and all the facilities are kept clean and neat.
Birds abound in this rich environment. We spent a considerable time just watching a flock of Red-browed Firetails feeding on grass seed and in the rainforest we heard (but didn't see) Wampoo Pigeons.
This is definitely a place to revisit. We would have stayed longer but for the need to dump our black water.
