Pressing on southward, we passed through Benaraby, Bororen which has a spiffy new pub, Miriam Vale, the Granite Creek Rest Area before we came upon the turnoff to the Fred Haig dam and Lake Monduran. Lake Monduran is created by the Fred Haig Dam.
The water level is presently about 20 metres (65ft) below the spillway. The once flooded banks are growing sizable saplings and even small trees so it has been this empty for some time, probably a number of years.
It is clear that those who built the dam never imagined it would ever be this low as the boat launching ramp ends 15 metres (50 ft) above the water!
There are several nice camping area beside the lake and we stayed at one of these with an uninterrupted view of the lake from our living room window.
