We had decided to visit Robin and Keryn Wood on their property at Beaudesert on our way into Brisbane.
We stopped at south Tweed Heads in a riverside car park to check the map and found ourselves sharing the territory with a family of Eastern Water Dragons. They were very active and quite curious so we got a good look at them. They are so cute.
We spent an hour searching for a bus company which was reputed to have a dump station. We eventually found it but it was under another name, it was deserted and I couldn't find any sign of a dump point.
The drive from Nerang to Beaudesert is quite pretty. There are one or two steep hills but the road surface is good and the countryside is fertile and interesting.
The Woods and the Conleys, who are staying with them, were pleased to see us and we celebrated later with a campfire.
This a beautiful place. It is 120 hectares (300 acres) of open woodland on a hill. It has a shed, rainwater tanks and a dam. It has limitless firewood and masses of birds. Wendy says it also has snakes much to Keryn's concern.
Robin is intent on reconstructing the landscape. Instead of raising the roof of the shed to allow the motorhome to park in it, he has lowered the ground under one end by 1.5 metres (5 feet). I was reminded of McCourt who constructed the Woakwine Cutting in South Australia.
Happy hour, which was an hour late for us as we had not converted to Queensland time, was very pleasant. Because we plan to head off to Brisbane tomorrow, we were made to promise to come back for a longer stay after we finish our baby sitting duties.
