After hurrying out of Brisbane and lunching at the Ginger Factory in Yandina, we joined the other Highway Wanderers at Pomona Showground in the afternoon.
We were pleased to see many of our friends we had met over the last few months.
Afternoon tea, happy hour and barbecue dinner were followed by a highly organised competitive games night. We had plenty of fun throwing empty tinnies into a garbage bin three metres (10 ft) away (we scored 98 in 5 minutes), moving pasta elbows from plate to plate using chopsticks (we scored 324 in 5 minutes) and lots of other silly things.
The last part of the evening was used up providing advice to a couple who plan to buy a laptop computer for their motorhome but don't know how to cope with the numbers (300MHz or 500MHz etc).
And so to bed.
To the Pomona market to look but not buy. There were so many motorhomers that the stallholders were commenting on all these people with their name badges on.
Some went to the Majestic Cinema in the afternoon to see Steele Rudd's On Our Selection and Dad and Dave. We veged out due to a late night last night.
The Xmas Dinner was pretty good, except for the last table who didn't get enough food! I had idly wondered how the caterers know how much food to prepare and Jean had remarked that when we had our 21st birthday catered there was masses of food left over. Clearly not all caterers are good at this or, perhaps in this era of economic efficiency, it is inappropriate to have any food left over even if it means some have to go without!
Ken Conley did a really good Santa, entrancing the youngest guest who was about two or three years old and who kept coming back to see if he was going to get another present.
The cabaret was an Elvis lookalike who is Philip Procter's brother-in-law. He kept everyone entertained until late into the evening.
It rained quite a lot during the night so the expedition up the mountain was cancelled.
This is a good site for a chapter meeting as there is an awning big enough for everyone to sit under for morning tea.
I made my National Advisory Counsellor spiel explaining the role as feeding information up to the Board and asking for people to talk to me about their concerns. The response was good with several people coming to talk to me about various issues during the day.
