We did some shopping, bought some diesel and pumped up the tyres in Roma and headed off to the west.
The road is only moderately smooth so we travelled at between 60kph and 80kph.
We saw several Bustards in the cereal fields. I'm told that they are prolific out towards Mt Isa so we look forward to seeing more.
Mitchell is keen to encourage travellers to stay a couple of days in the town. The Council Caravan park offers the first two nights free and subsequent nights at $5.50 with many site having en suite amenities. They also offer discounts on the cost of many local attractions including the Artesian Spa, the Wagon Tour of the town, and the River Cruise.
There are some CMCA people in the park but none going to Alice Springs. We recently had a call from Clarrie and Pat Bailey, with whom we had arranged to travel to the rally, saying that Pat has to stay at home for medical treatment so we won't be seeing them.
I decided to install the new remote control unit for the Inverter/Battery Charger which I bought in Brisbane. Only half the job got done before the sun set.
We decided to stay another day to get the installation finished. The job was done and tested OK at 6.30pm. I feel pretty stiff and sore from all the contortions in and under the truck but it is done, it works and it will greatly improve the management of the house battery.
