We stopped in Barcaldine to await the mail which we arranged to be posted to us here on Monday.
The Showground offers the second night free so we set up there.
Another Winnebago turned up at the showground with a couple we had not met before and who come from Belrose and who are going to Alice Springs. We spent happy hour with them and expect to meet them on the road.
The mail has arrived and we repaired to a cafe for coffee as we perused the large pile of letters.
The most urgent letters were from the Australian Electoral Commission with a please explain by 31 August as they understood that we no longer live at Bluegum. This despite the fact that we had taken the trouble to change our enrollment to Itinerant Elector before we left Sydney. I rang the office at Mona Vale and was asked to ignore the letters as our enrollment is OK
The CDMA phone doesn't work here so I tried to use a prepaid Telstra Phoneaway Card which they had given me as a loyalty prize. It seemed to work but at the last moment it claimed that the number I was calling, a normal Sydney number, could not be accessed from this card! I wonder what raving know-nothing expert would provide a prepaid phone card which is not good for a normal phone call from one of the issuing companies phones What I assume is another of the issuing companies phones. The card has worked for me before so the bar must be some selective one which I haven't been told about and which I can't possibly hope to understand.
Happily my original Telecard has been re-invigorated on Sarah's Telstra account so I managed the calls anyhow.
