We had breakfast with a flock of Welcome Swallows visiting us at the window of the Motley. Life really is amazing.
We settled in to the Sportsground in Canowindra with some of our friends from the Highway Wanderers to spend four days at the Marti's Balloon Fiesta.
Up at sparrow fart to watch the balloon s launching. Canowindra, the Kookaburra is the mascot of the festival and is very impressive. There were about thirty balloons altogether so we were entertained for a good hour. We decided not to fly as the going rate is $220 per person for a one hour flight, $150 for half an hour.
After breakfast we went to the Official Opening of the Age of Fishes Museum. The highlight was a presentation of the Big Fish Kill by some local children. The lowlight was a turgid speech by the Premier's representative.
In the afternoon we had a thunderstorm and none of the balloons flew.
It rained on and off all day so ther was no flying and the evening fireworks display and concert were off our agenda.
It started fine and sunny so the balloons flew. It rained sporadically all day so we veged out.
From our point of view the event was pretty much a washout. What a pity.
