We headed off relatively early and stopped for morning tea at Coonamble where there is a nice rest area in the town.

We decided to make some progress towards Theodore so we pressed on to Walgett.

This is a pretty unpleasant town. All the shops have security grills over the windows and the pub has many people waiting outside before opening time.

The caravan park in the maps and directories was notable by its non-existence. We saw a blue sign at the top if the town pointing out of the town. We found a very strange place called "Roontheben" by the cattle yards and near the river with two roads to it, a dry weather dirt road and a gravel wet weather road which is closed in dry weather.

The laundry comprised a single machine using river water but, as needs must, we washed some underwear and shirts ignoring the dirty brown stains on some of the clothes.

During the evening we watched a large thunderstorm to the east and during the night we had 25 mm (1 inch) of rain.

When we left in the morning, the wet weather road was open which was good as we wouldn't have got out on the dry weather road.
