We packed up and set off for Beaudesert after breakfast. We stopped at Jimboomba for lunch and to do the shopping. The weather was a little warmer than last week but not too hot for comfort.
We set up at Sherwood Forest in our usual place just in time for afternoon tea and happy hour. Last night's camp fire was still hot so we cooked dinner on the remaining coals, very good sausages from Lindsay the butcher.
Robin and Ross chopped down two beautiful old Swamp Gum trees which were growing where the house will eventually be built.
The Motley registration must be done this week in NSW so I rang the RTA in Sydney to confirm that I can get the roadworthiness test done in Queensland. It seems that, as the tare is less than 5 tonnes, and as we are more than 50 km from the border, we can get the test done in Queensland. I booked a test for tomorrow with the only guy in Beaudesert who is licenced to test vehicles over 4.5 tonnes GVM.
The vehicle inspection went well and we decided to go straight on to Tweed Heads in the Little Motley.
With some difficulty, we found the NRMA office in South Tweed Heads. I paid for the CTP insurance and we had a bite to eat before seeking out the RTA office which was close by. Sadly, I had to pay for the rego as we have had our pensions cancelled. Perhaps I should have bitten the bullet and change to Queensland rego, but then again, that would make renewing the rego from interstate that much more difficult. Perhaps we will get the pension back before next year.
The drive back was pleasant though 200 km in a day is a bit much for grey nomads like us. We arrived at Sherwood Forest in time for happy hour.
