We planned to break the journey back to Brisbane in two so we set off for Carters Ridge before lunch and arrived in time for afternoon drinks with Helene and Philip and Maxine and Steve. Marjorie and Robert from Blueprint arrived an hour after we did and parked down in the paddock as we were using the prime parking spot. We chatted until dusk and all retired to our separate homes.
We all went into Cooroy to look at a Gabriel Poole designed house which had come on to the market. It was a considerable distance from the centre of town, a short drive or a very long walk and the neighbours look a bit feral. The house was very small and quite hot but the verandah had been incorporated into the design in a quite exceptional way. The land was 0.4 hectare (1 acre) and was very plain with only a few young trees and those in the wrong places. The asking price was $179,000 which seemed quite unrealistic but, as Cooroy, is becoming something of a dormitory suburb of Brisbane, they might sell to some yuppie with lots of money.
Helene had run into some motorhomers staying in the Sporting Complex at Cooroy and had invited them round for a barbecue so we had a very lively happy hour which extended well into the night.
