Having packed away all the stuff I had been using and stowing the car the night before, we were able to set off early to go to the Easter chapter gathering at Kalbar which is just 60 odd km west of Beaudesert.
We had to do some shopping and get rid of the garbage so we arrived at Kalbar at about noon. There were four motorhomes already parked, the Bettisons and the Reids had come on Tuesday because of a misprint in the Wanderer, the Grubbs had only a few km to come from home and the Wades had overtaken us while we were shopping.
By tea time, several others had arrived, the Dawsons, Kevin Boyd and Anita, Ross Blackmore with Kendelle and her friend Jody, John Berkelaar in a whizbang(!), Tom Leach, Jan and George Reed, Merv Rodgers and Robyn, and the Gallands. We had happy hour sitting under the tipuana tree which is a feature of this site. It isn't quite as rain-proof as the fig tree at the Island Reach Camping Resort at Imbil but it is quite big and shady.
It rained heavily and continuously overnight so the day was not propitious for our usual pursuits of sitting around chatting.
Happily, the rain broke at morning tea time and we were able to sit out under the tree.
Several more units came in, Angie the Solo, the Wilds and Des O'Shea in a pair of Swagmans and late in the afternoon, the Woods who had had to wait for the ground to dry out at Sherwood Forest before they could get out.
There was some excitement when Peter Wild, wha had rung to ask if the ground was boggy, managed to drive one of his levelling feet about 25 cm (10 inches) into the ground. With help from Kevin Boyd, he managed to rectify the situation but only after and hours hard work.
Just about happy hour time, another heavy rain storm came through and we had to take refuge in the shed. The noise of the rain on the roof made conversation quite impractical so we stood at the open windows and watched the storm. With my newfound internet connection, I was able to download the Marburg radar picture which showed that there was no more rain coming.
The weather was beautiful and we spent most of the day chatting.
Keryn had brought the first run of the new chapter tee shirts which proved so popular that they were all sold.
In the evening most of us went to the pub for dinner. The meal was pretty good and the homemade port which I had with coffee was something else.
Today was indulgence day so we all cooked breakfast on the barbecue. The weather was fine but windy so we used the shed instead of the tree.
I spent the best part of the day and late into the night completing the task of organising my Chapter laptop files, recovering the Windows system on Keryn's laptop (which reformatted the hard disk!), and loading a copy of the newly organised chapter files onto her machine. When Robin reloads the apps she was using, it should be like a bought one.
Having worked very late last night, I slept in so that my breakfast was everyone else's morning tea. We walked into town to do a little shopping. The rest of the day was r&r.
