We had had enough of Katherine so we decided to go to Darwin. There is a choice of going straight up the highway or going an extra 200 km (120 miles) and going via Kakadu National Park. We drove to Pine Creek, filled up with fuel, dumped the black water in the dump point kindly provided by the town council, and then decided to go to Kakadu.
It was after three o'clock when we came upon the first wayside camping area so we stopped and settled in for the night. During the afternoon, the Reeds in Ozdyssey drove in. We happy houred with them, had a little dinner, watched all but the last lap of the Grand Prix which I had recorded last night (the program ran later than I had allowed for so the recording came to an abrupt end during the last lap and we'll probably never know if Ferrari ordered Barrichello to slow up and let Schummacher pass into first place as they did in the last GP).
