We drove the short distance to Eighty Mile Beach. The last 10 km (6 miles) was another nightmare of badly corrugated dirt road which took us over half an hour to negotiate. Whoever said it wasn't as bad as the road in to Barn Hill had misled us. However, we arrived, booked in for two days onto an unpowered site on the beachfront, set up, touched bases with the other Highway Wanderers already here, had lunch, a rest, and a walk on the beach.
Some were planning to leave tomorrow so a barbecue was planned. In the event, too many people turned up and happy hour degenerated into a series of little circles talking among themselves. We cooked tea in the Motley and veged out on a couple of very bad films on the only TV station available here.
Laundry day. It was very windy for most of the day so the washing only took half an hour to dry. We stayed indoors as you would at home in this weather.
