We had to stock up with groceries so we drove to Gatton. After a circuit of the town looking for the supermarket with a place to park the Motley nearby we finally finished up at Coles.

The shopping done, we headed off towards Laidley. It was lunchtime so we stopped in a layby just outside Forest Hills for while. I chanced to check "the Book" and found a reference to a camping ground just down the road. It had the benefit of power and water so the fact that it charged fees wasn't a problem. When we reached it, the sign said the park closes at sundown but that special arrangements could be made by phoning the Council.

We thought it would be wise to check it out before ringing and found a very pleasant park on the shore of the lake formed by the Bill Gunn dam. The surprising thing was that the time limit is three days but the first two days are free even though there is power and water.

We checked in with the caretaker and decided to sit out the wet weather in comfort and in pleasant surroundings.

Thursday 29th

There are some rest areas south of Laidley on a dead end road. I decided that it would be sensible to check them out in the Little Motley so we went into town to buy the paper and then headed south.

The entries in "the Book" were a bit lacking in accuracy but we sorted it all out and took pictures for the record. We got back to Lake Dyer in time for a late lunch and settled in for a cosy afternoon and evening hoping that the weather would clear up soon.
