We were last out again. Everyone else seems very keen to be on the road while we take pleasure in doing everything at a leisurely pace.
We hadn't very far to go to the next camp so we headed down to Clifton to check out the showground. While we were stopped outside getting a perspective on the place, a tractor pulled out of the showground and came over to us. The guy enquired what we were doing and when I told him we were surveying sites, he gave us a good rundown on their offering. If you want power and hot showers it will cost $7 per vehicle per night but if you are self-contained it is free.
While we were travelling to Clifton, we had heard a truckie comment that "they are all bunched up together" so we guessed that they had run into a convoy of motorhomes. We decided to take the direct road from Clifton to Pittsworth which ensured that we wouldn't have other motorhomes on the road with us. We found the camp site at Yarramalong Wei, despite the fact that the RACQ map was in error, using the GPS to tell us which way to turn.
We had all settled in to the camp sonn after lunch because the days entertainment was to be a "Royal" tournament held in the afternoon. As ever, the organisers had dressed up beautifully and had prepared a script for the occasion. I had responded to the invitation to dress "Knightly" by making a black cloak and a silver crown decorated with the Club symbol and appeared as the Black Jack.
We first had a competitive joust using hobby horses and "lances" made of cardboard tubes with coloured tassels in the end. The object of the game was to dislodge the opponents tassel while keeping one own in place. Various ways of cheating were devised but, in the end, luck was the most important factor. The audience seemed to enjoy the antics of the participants and all were entertained.
The second contest was a game of "polo". Teams of three all mounted on hobby horses competed using croquet mallets to get the ball through the opponents goal. A great deal of "enthusiasm" on the part of the players resulted in someone getting hit in the face so the rest of the tournament was cancelled.
