Saturday 23rd

Before dawn I thought I heard a balloon flying so I got up and went outside. It wasn't a balloon, it was the park sprinkler system. The noise I had heard was a sprinkler spraying the side of another motorhome from really close range. Happily we had parked in our favourite spot and the sprinkler near us was pointed the other way so we only got a little light rain from a distant one.

Someone reported that a guy wearing a jacket with a caravan park name on it was in the park before breakfast taking pictures of all the assembled caravans and motorhomes. Obviously, the caravan park owners are waging a campaign to have the park closed. I will write to the council to point out to them that closing the park won't increase the income of the caravan parks because we are all into self-contained operation and wouldn't even stop in the town if we couldn't camp in the park and this would have some negative effect on the income of other trades in the town,

We walked into town to buy groceries before we left to head north.

By three o'clock I was cactus again so I decided to stop at Dubbo. We went into the showground to use the dump point only to find a showie caravan parked right across the access. I drove into town to take on some fresh water before we retired to our favourite camping spot at Devils Elbow and settled in for a "quiet" night. During the evening we were joined by a hoon in a loud car who disturbed the peace for a bit but the night was ours alone. In the early morning we had to share the site with the resident sulphur-crested cockatoos.

Sunday 24th

I found myself falling asleep after breakfast so I decided I needed a lay day.
