Needing to establish our presence in the community, we decided to join the North West Nomads, the local chapter of the CMCA who were holding their monthly meeting at Manilla which is just 40 km (25 miles) down the road. We took the Motley without the trailer as we were only going to be away one night.
On the way, we visited the Glenriddle Reserve which is a camping spot at the upstream end of the Split Rock Dam. There is precious little water in the river at the meoment and the grass has all been burnt off so we didn't see it at its best.
We joined the chapter in the caravan park in Manilla. There were half a dozen other motorhomers there and we were warmly welcomed.
The conversation covered all sorts subjects and I was able to talk about the Self-containment Scheme and about Camps Australia Wide 3.
The cold drove us into the Motley for dinner but we were quite snug as we were on shore power.
