Sunday 4th

It rain quite heavily all night. The rain gauge read 45 mm in the morning which is much more than we have had any other day since we have been here. The little tank we are still using was about 80% full before it rained and the rain would have completely filled it from empty. It's a pity the new tank isn't yet in as the 4000 litres (900 gal) would have been very useful. Since the average annual here is 700 mm we would expect to fill the new tank in about 4 months so I guess it will be all right.

I did the last chore on the Motley by equalising the house batteries. I did intend to change the oil in the genny but the rain had made the ground very soggy so I'll wait till I can do it in some comfort.

We also sorted out what we need to take on the next trip and most of that is now done so we can go to Tamworth tomorrow and visit John Samin who is recovering from his knee replacement surgery.

Monday 5th

We went to Tamworth to visit John in hospital and to pick up a new battery for my mobile phone.

John was remarkably well though his temperature control hadn't quite settled down.

Tuesday 6th

I collected all the Secretary's gear from Vicki Samin as she has decided not to go to Maryborough which is sensible given that John will be a fair time recuperating from the surgery.

We loaded the Motley with all the stuff we need for the next trip. We will find out when we are on the road if we have forgotten anything.
