We made good time to Sydney and settled into the caravan park in Narrabeen in time for a late lunch. We have a prime site right by the lake and well away from the ablutions block.
I went out to do a bit of shopping and Jean called one of her friends and had a long talk.
In the evening we were assailed by the very, very loud music from the pub across the lake. They did settle down before midnight so we go a good night's sleep.
The rain set in so we hunkered down in the comfort of the Motley.
I had sent an email to a friend of Jeans because we weren't sure of her phone number. She rang and arranged to have afternoon tea with us.
It dawned bright but misty so we might have a good day.
Jean had an appointment with the dentist in Dee Why in the morning. We also did some business at the Credit Union.
We had lunch with Bigman. It was good to catch up with him. He seemed well and happy.
In the evening, we had dinner with Jan and Richard in Bellevue Hill. The food was excellent and the conversation was extensive. We got back to the Motley a bit before midnight.
We did the final preparation for Jean's trip quietly and calmly. We headed off to the airport pretty early to avoid any hiccups with the traffic. In the event it took less than an hour to get to the airport.
We were queuing behind about fifty people who had arrived even earlier than us when a United guy offered us an upgrade to Business Class at a price which made the total cost of the ticket less that half what it would have been if we had booked Business Class originally. Jean felt she would be happy to pay for the upgrade so she did that.
Up early to do the laundry.
Then to Dee Why to see the dermatologist. I had forgotten that I needed a new referral but they let me get one after the treatment. I had had a bit of a problem with a spot in front of my ear. He identified it as a basal cell carcinoma and removed it surgically. I have to get the results of the pathology on Monday and I have to have another check up in December before we go back to Barraba. I went to the surgery in Frenchs Forest to got the referral.
I stopped in Dee Why Beach for coffee, rang John Ziegler and he joined me and we had a great chat.
I rang some other friends but they were out so I veged out in the Motley.
I had a phone cal from Col Smith and we arranged to meet when I come back to Sydney. He gave me a phone number for Kevin Long who is the Secretary of the AWA Veterans Association. They are having a meeting on 24th Nov. He mentioned some of the current members who I would remember and I arranged to go to the meeting to catch up with old friend. I'll have to spend some more time in Sydney but I'll go to the St Ives showground to save a little money.
