Another grey day.
I was a bit second hand after the work yesterday but I did some more work on the bathroom.
In the afternoon we had a heavy rainstorm.
I had a call from my colleague Ross, asking what I had done about our response to the Board of the CMCA. I had to admit that I hadn't finalised the words. I set to and finished that task and sent the new draft off for consideration by the Director to whom we are responsible before submitting it to the Board.
I finally installed the shower screen. The bathroom isn't finished but it is ready for the plumber to do his bit. He promised to come next Tuesday. Meanwhile we could have cold showers but why would we do that when the Motley provides a proper hot shower.
In the evening, I went to a Lions Zone Meeting in Bingara with three other Barraba Lions. It was interesting to see how the next level up of the organisation works. There was a good deal of talk about the third level up, the District. I got the impression that the organisation is a bit of over-governed and my colleagues confirmed that they also think this. They see Lions as primarily an organisation to help out with local problems. The Barraba club certainly has a good track record in this area and most members avoid the higher levels of the organisation.
After the Zone meeting, we were guests at the Bingara Club dinner meeting which was very pleasant. I took the opportunity to further the cause of poetry recitation which was well received.
I took a day off to celebrate the completion of the bathroom work.
I had to correct the email which I sent on Monday because I had attached the wrong file, a bit embarrassing but I hope , not fatal to the process.
A quite wintry day with overcast, drizzle, and a cold southerly blowing. I went out to a working bee only to find no-one there. Perhaps I got the date or time wrong.
I was up very late working on the computer.
Jean asked for some mulch so that she could weed the front garden. I bought one bag thinking it would be enough for the little bed which is only 2.5 sq. m (25 sq. ft). When I finished weeding I found that the one bag of pine bark only did half the bed so I had to go and get another one. While the gardening bug was working, I got the whipper snipper out and topped all the weeds which had decided to sprout flowers on stalks. The garden all looks as though we care for it now. I was pretty well cactus after that so I rested up for the rest of the afternoon.
In the evening we went to the RSL for dinner and had a drink with a friend from up the street. We bought some raffle tickets but didn't win anything.
I was up very late working on the computer again. I am trying to develop a good backup strategy based on daily incremental backups of Work on the USB memory stick, weekly incremental backups of all user files including Library and so forth on the other iBook and monthly backups of everything on the external hard disk. I was going to use Superduper as it seems to do what I want but I would have to pay for it. I decided to use RsyncX instead. It includes an update of rsync so I will have to check that it doesn't interfere with the uploading of the Motley Expeditions website.
I was bushed after the gardening yesterday so I veged out.
Jean had a bad attack of indigestion overnight so she spent a fair amount of the day sleeping.
