We left Dumaresq Dam at about eleven o'clock and stopped for lunch at Tamworth. We had to park across the river in the caravan parking lot and walk a fair way back into town.
We had our usual lunch at the Homestead Cafe while I connected to the internet via their wireless hot-spot.
We got back to Barraba at about half past three and had all the unloading done before sundown.
We did some shopping and some laundry but otherwise took to the living room because it was so hot..
I revised the Memoir section of the Motley website by separating all the chapters to make maintenance easier.
Before breakfast, I managed to update the website despite much trouble with the connection. I found and installed a newer version of the Minimax software but with no improvement. In the evening I reverted to the original Minimax driver and all seemed to come good.
When I came back from the shops, I saw a little Brown Falcon dragging a white bundle across the back lawn. The bird dropped the bundle and flew away when I got out of the car. I investigated the bundle and found that it was one of Elsie May's pigeons, killed by the falcon. I left it where it was and later in the afternoon it had gone. I assume the falcon came back for its dinner when it was quiet.
Another hot day. I had planned to go to Tamworth but I decided that it would be too uncomfortable and there was nothing urgent to be done. I tried to buy a fan in town without success. I did find an Evaporative Cooler going cheap so I bought that. It didn't seem to work until I discovered that I hadn't turned the COOLING function on. It eventually started to work but still only produced 1°C drop in the output airstream. Perhaps the humidity was too much for it.
I spent most of the day working on documentation.
We went to Tamworth to buy the kitchen cupboards and to order the benchtops we had had quoted last time we were in Tamworth.
I felt quite under the weather so was pleased that we got home early.
I was able to do a few chores in the morning. In the afternoon we had some rain. It was cool and overcast after the rain so I did some weeding in the front lawn trying to get rid of the catheads which cause so much trouble because the seeds get stuck in the soles of the shoes and get transferred to the carpet where they stick into the bare feet. I didn't get it all done before the sun came out and it was too hot to work outdoors.
Later on we had a humungous rain storm. I had to rush around and close all the windows to stop the rain getting in. I noticed that the gutter over the kitchen window was overflowing so I went out to clean out the leaves. I also went down to the Motley to close the hatch over the shower. I got very wet and had to take a shower. The rain finally stopped and all became quiet. We had had 50mm (2 inches) in just a couple of hours.
