[Earlier Visits]
Friday 4th

We had made an appointment for Jean to have a haircut and for the Motley and the Terios to have routine services before we head off into the outback so we booked into the caravan park in Aspley to be near the places we had to go to early in the morning.

We drove to Brisbane arriving in time for lunch. We went to Mitchelton in the afternoon. While Jean was at the hairdresser, I drove to Samford to pick up the mail which had been redirected from Barraba. Jean was really please with the new hair style and I promised to photograph it for the website.

Saturday 5th

Another bright and sunny day. We went to Chermside to visit the Telstra Shop to upgrade the wireless modem to 3G. Maxon have released a beta version of the driver for the new modem and I wanted to get the benefit of the increased speed. We also visited Diabetes Australia to stock up on diabetic friendly goodies.

We went to Patricks Road to visit he family and to take advantage of a large table for cutting out the cloth for Jean's new clothes.

Sunday 6th

We didn't get out till after lunch. We went to Patricks Road to finish Jean's cutting out. I felt pretty second rate. I begin to think I have some kind of virus infection. I just hope it goes away.

Monday 7th

I was still a bit under the weather so I planned a rest day.

I had to do some jobs on the Motley, uncoupling the trailer in preparation for the service tomorrow and mending a slow leak in one of the trailer tyres.

Tuesday 8th

I had booked the Motley in for a routine service. We had to be out early to get the truck across the road to the Mazda service department. I discovered that I had confused the two service appointments. The truck had been booked in for Wednesday but they accepted it anyway. The car was booked in for today so I had to re-book it for tomorrow.

We took the opportunity to do some shopping in town. We went to Bowen Hills to buy a new mask for Jean to use with the CPAP machine. Jean wanted to do some sewing so we went to Patricks Road. The guys servicing the truck had so much trouble with the replacement of the belts and hoses that they didn't get the truck back on the road before knock off time. They arranged for us to camp in the yard overnight and plugged us into power so we had a pretty comfortable night.

Wednesday 9th

We got up very early and headed off for breakfast at the Coffee Club at seven o'clock so the guys could start work early on completing the service. After breakfast we went back to Patricks Road and Jean did the rest of her sewing. By half past two we were getting pretty toey about the Motley so we decided to go to the Mazda to give them a hurry up. When we arrived the truck was out on the road doing its road test which was quite a relief. We finally got back to the caravan park at about four o'clock. There was a fair bit to do to set up again and I needed to do some shopping so we didn't get settled in till half past five. It had been quite an "adventure" and I was quite bushed but at least the Motley is set up for going bush and we won't have to worry about it.

Because of the two days spent servicing the truck, I had to cancel the Terios service. We will try and find a Toyota service depot somewhere out towards Barcaldine who can do the job.

Thursday 10th

Having done everything we needed to do in Brisbane, at last we can have a rest day. Well that's what I thought.

We arranged for Jean to have the hairdo she had last week trimmed so we went to Mitchelton for eleven o'clock. While Jean was in the hairdresser, I went to the water filter shop to buy filter elements for the Motley so that I will be able to replace them when needed without having to worry about buying suitable ones wherever we happen to be.

We went to Brookside to try and buy a tabletop ironing board and a new bum bag to replace my old one. We found a bum bag but no ironing board. We did find a microwave oven suitable for Sarah's kitchen and bought it for her for a Mother's Day/Wedding Anniversary present. We took it to Patricks Road so that it wouldn't get damaged by driving around too much.

Still looking for an ironing board, we went on to Everton Park to visit Anaconda and Spotlight. In Anaconda we found a camp chair to replace one which had recently broken but no ironing board. In Spotlight we found lots of craft and sewing stuff Jean needed including some red and purple feathers. When we asked about the ironing board, the checkout lady suggested Bunnings so we drove to Bald Hills where we found one.

On the way back to the caravan park, we called in to the Mazda place to pick up the power lead I had left behind. We got back to the Motley at about four o'clock but I still had thing to do so I didn't get to rest until half past four. So much for a rest day.

As it was our last night in Brisbane, we went to Patricks Road for dinner . We bought take-away Indian from the local Curry House,
