We packed up early and drove back in to Gayndah to shop and to dump the waste water and fill up the fresh water tanks.

We drove north. As we were approaching Eidsvold, we had a radio call from a couple in a 4WD who told us that they drive this road regularly and have always wanted to have lunch at the Mulgildie Hotel but have previously been passing at the wrong time. They recommended the place to us because it has a great reputation and the cost of a roast lunch is $4.50. We realised that we could reach Mulgildie in time for lunch so we headed there. We met the couple from the 4WD and thanked them for their advice. The lunch was really good, the best pub meal either of us could remember.

We drove on passing the Coominglah Range Rest Area because it was crammed with caravans and motorhomes. We stopped at Lawgi Park, a site I had surveyed for CampsAustraliaWide3 on a previous journey down the Burnett Highway.

Jean announced that she would refuse to travel this highway again unless she wins the lottery and buys a Ross motorhome with proper comfortable suspension. We christened the road "The Bumpy Highway" and this was confirmed by the barman at the Mulgildie Hotel who had come from Gin Gin on the dirt road with no problems until he got to the "Bumpy Highway" which was very bumpy.

We settled in for a quiet night, There is no telephone service here but the TV is OK.
