In search of the safari, we headed for Mission Beach where the books said camping areas were to be found.
We found neither camping areas nor safari but we did find a nice caravan park by the beach at South Mission Beach.
The highlight of this stay was the Cassowary with two six month old chicks which visited the park and investigated all our sites before going off again into the bush.
We walked the beach, observed a number of different crab signs, gazed at Dunk Island and wondered why people rave about this part of the world when it is not as pretty as the beaches we are used to and swimming is dangerous because of marine stingers of several kinds.
We did have delicious fish and chips for dinner.
