We spent the morning walking by the creek soaking up the beauty of the rainforest and the wild river./pphe aboriginal legend has it that the extreme rockiness of the creek is the result of an adulterous adventure which went sadly wrong when the tribes caught up with the couple and the young woman threw herself into the creek causing an eruption of enormous boulders which now give the place its character and its name/pphere are very explicit signs banning climbing on the rocks here because of the frequent fatalities, mostly of young men. There is a poignant memorial to a twenty year old who "came to see the river and stayed forever"

When we returned to the Motley, there was a crew noisily drilling holes in the ground so we decided to visit Bramston Beach of which we had heard good reports. In the event we found it to be pretty ordinary so we had lunch and headed back to the Boulders. As we were approaching Babinda we heard chat on the CB between people in the safari so I called in and asked where they were. They had all settled into the rest area which we had failed to find yesterday because it is hidden from the road and is not signposted. We joined them for happy hour and a campfire and stayed two nights.
