On the way out of town we saw the Surat Fishing and Restocking Club Park by the river next to the bridge. We found that everyone else who had stayed overnight in the town had stayed there rather than the caravan park.
Just up the road we saw a sign to the Villacoola Vineyard and Winery which also sells fresh dates. Jean had been hankering for fresh dates ever since we were in Alice Springs so we went in. The wines we tasted were not worth mentioning and the dates were equally forgettable.
We continued our journey towards Theodore reaching Roma before stopping.
Today is a public holiday in Queensland so we were not able to stock up. We stopped overnight in the free camping area specifically provided for self contained vehicles.
We needed to get a prescription for some pills we were running short of so I rang for an appointment at one of the GPs listed in the town directory. The first available was 1.45 so we spent the morning refuelling and shopping.
The doctor was running very late but took only a minute to write the scrip. After putting the scrip in to the chemist, it was now getting on well into the afternoon, we decided to stay another night.
As we were preparing to drive back to the park, we had a knock on the door of the Motley and were surprised to find Ray and Peg, longtime motorhomers we had first met at Berri two and a half years ago when we were real newbies. As we were exchanging greeting with them, a lady from another motorhome came up to talk to Ray and Peg and we discovered that she was from the motorhome which, in October last, had rushed passed us on the road back from Arltunga. They had been talking to another couple of motorhomers who also happened to be parked nearby. Four of us all stopped in the same part of the same town on the same day just by chance is quite a coincidence.
