We have to hurry, at least in our terms, to get back to Brisbane before Saturday. It's over 700 km (400 miles) and there's only four days left.
There is a short cut through Cracow which would reduce the distance by 150 km (90 miles) but it's mostly unsealed and is said to be pretty rough so we decided to take the bitumen all the way. This took us through Banana, a town with one store and a truck servo, to Biloela, where we had spent a few days on the way to Townsville in 1999. Here we shopped and had lunch.
We spent the night at the Coominglah Range Rest Area up the hill north-east of Monto. There were several other motorhomes there and a caravan and we passed the time of day with all of them.
