On the way back to Brisbane, we called in to both Camec and Coast to Coast to see if they could help with the leak in the water inlet. Neither of them could offer any advice so I will have to seek help from an adhesive expert.
We went to Patricks Road to pick up the mail and repaired to the caravan park in Aspley before dark.
Jean had a appointment at the dentist in the afternoon so we did the laundry and a little shopping.
In the morning, we went to Patricks Road to join Sarah's scrapbooking workshop.
I discovered that Winnebago could supply the part I need to mend the electric steps so I order it to be delivered by express post.
Paying for it was something else. Winnebago don't accept credit cards so I had to deposit money into their bank account. Easier said than done. The ANZ Bank at Arana Hills has a most unusual security system which only allows people into the tellers one at a time. Then the account number the guy at Winnebago had given me was for a closed account. My mobile phone wouldn't work inside the bank. The accountant at Winnebago said it was the right account number but he would ring his branch and get them to ring the branch I was in to fix it up. Eventually whatever was wrong was fixed and they finally accepted my money.
In the afternoon, Jean had an appointment with the physiotherapist.
Jean wanted a roast dinner so I cooked a big leg of lamb complete with many veges, white sauce and gravy. It was appreciated by all.
Sarah and Jean did sewing and we had lunch at Patricks Road.
We met Sarah and the kids at Mitchelton where they had visited the doctor, Kelly for ongoing flu-like symptoms and Ross for conjunctivitis. We had coffee at the new Cafe Zanetti and returned to Patricks Road to do some sewing.
I rehung the laundry door so that the cats would have somewhere warm to sleep as they are not allowed in the house unsupervised following a spate of unhygienic behaviour.
Sarah cooked a wonderful sea pie complete with mustard dumplings followed by apple pie and custard!.
In the morning I re-fitted the water inlet which I had resealed yesterday. There seem to be no leaks but we'll see.
We spent the rest of the day at Patricks Road, returning to the caravan park before it got too cold.
In the morning we went shopping for supplies, clothes, and a new folding table advertised in the K-mart sale catalogue. We'll leave the existing table at Patricks Road while we try out the new one.
Ian was late home from work so we stayed on until after supper to help Sarah with the kidsLaundry day.
We went to the pharmacy at Carseldine to buy spares for the CPAP masks. By George, they know how to charge. Still we wouldn't want to be unable to fix any problem when we are away in the bush.
Since we were in the area, we went to the Tinchi Tamba Wetlands Reserve on the South Pine River estuary. Its a nice little park with picnic tables, trees, grass, plenty of parking and all on the banks of the river. Lots of birds, we saw a Jabiru as we were driving in. A little further on there's a big sealed carpark by the boat ramp.
To Patricks Road for the regular Thursday morning scrapbooking session.
In the afternoon Jean had an appointment at the hairdresser and then one at the physiotherapist.
As it was our last night in Brisbane for a little while, Sarah cooked dinner and we celebrated the winter solstice.
Mars is presently in conjunction so it is rising at sunset. It is very bright and obvious.
The "news" media have beat up the circumstance by talking about " a near approach" as though Mars had left its orbit and was wandering perilously close to earth.
