We had a lazy morning and headed off to Busselton. We took a scenic drive through the Tuart Forest, the only stand of these trees in Australia (which of course means the world). we came upon a brown snake crossing the road in a pretty lethargic fashion so we stopped. While it was crossing the other lane of the road, a four wheel drive aimed for it and ran it over. I believe there is something wrong with most Australians who it seems will generally agree on the conservation of koalas and other cute, cuddly animals but who will kill snakes without compunction. Very upsetting.
We chose a caravan park in Busselton which was reported to have a dump point. Not only was this not so but there was some thought that we should pay for two sites because we couldn't fit on one. The park wasn't full and I indicated that I would rather not pay twice. Eventually the management granted me some kind of favour by not pursuing the second fee. Silly me, I thought I was granting them the benefit of my custom. It being well after any reasonable lunchtime, I accepted the offer.
We unloaded the Little Motley and drove into town. After a little shopping, we went to the pier to take the tram which takes one out to the other end 2 km (1.2 miles) out in the Indian Ocean. Sadly the last tram of the day left just as we arrived so we weren't able to participate in the touristy activity.
