We had arranged to go to another scrapbooking marathon on Saturday so we returned to Brisbane so that Jean could sort photos before the event. When we arrived at Lawnton Showground, some friends from the Highway Wanderers were already there.
The scrapbooking was a marathon and we called it a day at suppertime. Sarah had an unfortunate experience after we left. She went up to collect her prize for doing another 5 pages and was told that her work didn't qualify because it was not done with exclusively Creative Memories material. As we all use paper, pens, scalpels, punches, stickers from anywhere, it is doubtful wether anyone should have won a prize for any of their work. Indeed Jean and I both won prizes for our work, work which was not purely Creative Memories.Sarah felt humiliated and it got worse when she found out that an elderly lady new to the scrapbooking scene had been put down because all but one sticker on her two pages were pure CM but still she was denied recognition and she apparently burst into tears at the rebuff. We must write letters to the organisers so that they know how destructive of goodwill towards Creative Memories this kind of elitist policy brings.
On Monday, Alain and I took Kelly and Ross to Ekka. We had a very good day. The children behaved wonderfully well and we all had some good fun.
I delivered the new database and left it to Al to transfer the data across from the working one to the new one.
There were some problems with the telephone installation at the new premises and I had to provide some technical support to Sarah because the installer was going a bit off the rails.
I decided that I needed some physiotherapy for my thumb which has been getting progressively more of a problem over the last few months and had become something of a liability. The GP had prescribed anti-inflammatory medication and I have been trying to avoid using it by strapping it to the index finger but the problem hasn't gone away. The young physiotherapist diagnosed long term micro-injuries to a couple of the tendons. It may be a repetitive strain injury caused by bending the thumb a lot to hit the command key on the computer so I have switched on the Universal Access sticky keys to overcome this problem. He did some ultrasound, some lasering and some massage. He thought that the constraint I had made was inappropriate and strapped it up in a professional fashion and called me back for more treatment on a twice weekly basis.
