We set off early first to drop the black water at Wyllie Park and then to get the broken gas regulator attended to at Virginia. They wanted to charge me for the replacement pending the resolution of the warranty claim on the manufacturer. They also charged me for the removal which I could quite easily have done myself. I chose to not replace it yet and, if and when they offer me a new one, I will fit it myself!.
We arrived at Kalbar in time for lunch. We were surprised to find eight motorhome already there. Some more arrived during the afternoon so we will have a proper chapter gathering despite most people still being in Tasmania for the rally.
More people turned up during the day reaching a total of 25 vehicles. Some new members were recruited into the chapter and some transferred from other chapters to ours.
In the evening, Hazel Beneke set up her telescope and gave us a tour of the highlights of the autumn sky. We saw Jupiter with four moons and with a couple of stripes, Saturn with the rings showing. Venus at half phase, 47 Tuc, the tarantula in the Larger Magellanic cloud and lots of other sights.
In the morning we went to Boonah to do the shopping. There were too many people in town so we escaped as soon as we could.
At afternoon tea, we had hot cross buns courtesy of the chapter and chatted until the chill of the evening drove us indoors.
At crack of dawn I was out delivering easter eggs to every motorhome at the gathering. It was blooming cold and I had to wear all the warm clothes I could find. A cup of coffee and the fan heater in the Motley eventually restored the circulation to my extremities.
Hazel Beneke had organised a treasure hunt which kept us entertained at happy hour. Someone started reading jokes and others joined in with poems. I got out "the pill the cat" story but I still can't read it without breaking out in wild giggles all the time.
Some had to leave to get back home for various reasons but those who remained spent a relaxed day playing scrabble or cards or just chatting and drinking. I managed to complete some of the outstanding minor repairs on the Motley before I settled back in the chair for a well earned rest.
