We left Sherwood Forest at half past eleven and went in to Beaudesert to restock with food, fuel , water and storage boxes. We had picked up a mouse somewhere on the way. It hadn't found the food store but I decided that it would be better to put all the soft packages in storage boxes until we catch the damned thing.
We got away at one o'clock and headed north for the motorway which would take us to Toowoomba and Oakey. We had a little trouble finding the showground in Oakey but finally arrived and settled in for happy hour.
There were a dozen or so Highway Wanderers already camped up, all of whom we had met before somewhere on the road so we had a very pleasant reunion.
Brian Galland, as is his want, had a fire going well before the evening chill set in so we didn't get back to the Motley until well after dark.
The night sky was sparkling clear and there were stars in profusion with the Milky Way very clear. This display, which can only be seen away from city lights, has to be one of the best reasons for travelling.
We went to town to buy a paper and to find the laundromat. Walking along the street we met up with some motorhomers we hadn't met before who are housesitting nearby and who are going to the rally in Toowoomba. We had a longish chat with them and invited them to come to the Highway Wanderers happy hour at the rally so we might meet up with them again.
More of our friends and acquaintances from the road and one or two we hadn't met before arrived during the day so we had an even more lively and entertaining happy hour.
Up before breakfast to do the laundry and back on deck for morning tea which lasted until the rising wind drove everyone indoors.
The wind kept up all day and we had to have happy hour in a little shed with all the door closed but the jokes were prolific and the quiz added a bit of entertainment. We all called it a day at about half past five and settled in for a warm night in the comfort of our motorhomes.
We didn't do a lot except chat, eat and drink.
I had been asked to look at a problem in the TV/VCR setup in a friend's motorhome. I eventually found the cause of the problem and made some modifications to correct the problem. There is still a bit to do to get all the features fully operational but we should get that done in Toowoomba.
