We moved to the showground and made appointments for later in the week to see the dietician, the podiatrist, the dentist, and the hairdresser.
We went to Patricks Road to do some repairs. The flickering light was easy; it just needed a new bulb.
The dishwasher was a lot more of a problem. Installing the new seals was a fairly difficult task but it didn't solve the problem. I was able to make a better tentative diagnosis; I think the water level sensor was not stopping the machine from over filling. I'll have to talk to the guy in the spares shop.
Jean had an appointment with the dentist. She has to go back for some fillings so we made another appointment for tomorrow.
While she was there I visited the appliance spares shop to see what advice that they could offer for the problem with the dishwasher. I was advised to check the vent tube and the water valve before spending $70 on the replacement of the pressure switch.
Out after breakfast to go to Aspley for an appointment with the dietician. She provided a bit of new advice but most of what she said was already well understood. We have to return for another appointment when we get back to Brisbane.
Off to Arana Hills for the dentist's appointment. The hour and a half later, Jean emerged just a bit numb. Sarah invited us to join them for lunch at Cafe Conti at Wilston but then went to Brookside instead. Having arranged a table for five, we waited patiently for them to arrive but left after waiting half an hour.
On to Mitchelton for a visit to the podiatrist. We had something to eat before the appointment and then returned to Patricks Road. I wanted to pick up some software updates I had downloaded for Sarah but I wasn't able to get anything to work. I'll try again tomorrow.
We went to Mitchelton for Jean's hair appointment. We had lunch at Cafe Zanetti to see for ourselves if the standard had dropped as much as the family had told us it had. Indeed, the coffee was very ordinary and the service was even more ordinary. It seem as though we have to find a new place where the making of excellent coffee is paramount.
We went back to Patricks Road to recover the software I had downloaded earlier on the eMac. Everything went wrong. Nothing worked as advertised. I couldn't network with the eMac or with Sarah's iBook. I couldn't get Rendezvous to work. I couldn't get a direct connection to the DSL service to work. I couldn't even get Sarah's flash disk to work. I left in disgust having achieved absolutely nothing. I did borrow O'Reilly's "MacOSX in a Nutshell" which I had bought for Alain when he was system guru for Uncarved Women. Perhaps a little reading will reveal where to go for fixes for the problems I have been suffering.
We returned to Lawnton to prepare to head off to Cooroy in the morning.
