Another bright and clear day.
In the morning I did some more chores.
We went to the Samin's for a barbecue lunch to farewell some friends of theirs who are moving to Victoria. We had a really nice time, eating well, drinking good wine, chatting about all sorts of things, and meeting new people. One of the guests has been a cotton grower for many years and he and I had a long and deep conversation about water.
It rained overnight, filling my fresh water tank. The clouds broke up a bit and we had a somewhat sunny morning.
In the afternoon, the carpet layers came to measure up the rooms. I had moved a lot of stuff so that he would be able to use his tape measure. I needn't have bothered because he used a laser rangefinder held up at shoulder height and didn't have to bend down at all. It's amazing how the technology has been adapted to everyday life.
In the evening, Jean went to the book club with Vicki. She enjoyed the evening and plans to go regularly.
Another rainy day so I had to get the fire in. The mantlepiece had to be re-installed so I did a bit of a jury rig to keep the hot gas from escaping. It will need the attention of a bricklayer eventually.
I also started to dismantle the bathroom cupboard. Sadly it had been constructed very well and the job got to be difficult.
It rained heavily overnight and showered all day.
The guy from The Kitchen Men came to measure up for a quote.
Jean chose the new colour for the walls so I bought some paint and the gear needed to paint the walls.
We had to go to Tamworth to fix up Jean's airline tickets. I also paid for the stove and the water heater. Elgas can't deliver them so I will have to get one of the local couriers to bring them.
When we went for lunch, I parked in a meter space and got booked again. The parking officer was still there when we got back to the car and when I asked for an explanation how I could have overstayed when I had been parked for less than the time on the meter, she found that I had I fed the money into the wrong number on the meter. She said she would make a note on the ticket and advised me to write in asking to be released from the offence.
In the morning I did some more work on the bathroom. With some sunshine, Jean did some laundry.
In the afternoon I got some more demolition done before getting the fire in and having a bit of a rest.
I did more demolition in the bathroom and I did some preparation for painting the bedroom.
We got the fire in in the afternoon and watched Randwick beat Eastwood 44 - 30 at Rugby Union on the TV.
In the evening we watched some cricket and some tennis but neither was interesting enough to make us watch it to the end of the match. The Tour de France started today but I wasn't able to stay up till after 1 am so I'll have to watch the highlights instead.
