I got a few more small jobs done while it was warm.
We went to Tamworth to pick up a conversion kit for a gas heater we had bought when we lived in Sydney. It was originally equipped to operate on natural gas but we use LPG in Barraba. I had tried to get the conversion done by a gas appliance guy in Tamworth but they said that the manufacturer had discontinued the supply of suitable conversion kits. I was so keen to get this conversion done that I asked Elgas if they could source a kit. They came up trumps and we took the kit and the heater to the gas appliance guy. He rang while we were on the way back home to say that the conversion had been done and we could pick up the heater. I will have to go to Tamworth again soon to pick it up.
We also went to The Warehouse because they had advertised in their sale an entertainment unit which would suit our TV and our living room. The hadn't received stock of this item so we had to leave our details so that they could get back to us when they get them in.
I spent the base part of the day re-arranging the furniture in the dining room so that I can put all the new book cases there. I had to tidy up a lot of stuff which had accumulated there but it now looks much better. I also built another bookcase. I then needed a lie down.
I built the last bookcase and started the process of getting organised.
The new armchairs were due to be delivered today. I expected them to come early but they came at four o'clock having been all the way to Moree, stopping at Barraba on the way back to Tamworth. The chairs are really nice. It's a pity that I had a hard time fitting the legs on one of them. The workmanship was not up to standard and they obviously hadn't trial fitted the feet or they would have found the problem. I said to Jean "What do people who don't have an engineer in the house do when they have this kind of trouble?" She said "They have to get the company who sold them to fix them." At least we have the chairs to sit on without that kind of delay.
I spent the day organising the stuff in the dining room. It is beginning to look quite good though there is still quite a bit of work to do. I have discovered that we won't be able to put all the books we own in the bookcases we now have in the house.
I had a Lions meeting in the evening. This was a board meeting to which all members are invited and I had an opportunity to see how the club is run. I was invested as the Cake Chairman.
I went to the hospital to have the stitches from last Friday's surgery removed. The good news is that the pathology tests on the offending lump showed that it wasn't a BCC. This is a bit of a relief. It would have been a little worrying to have had two cancers on the face within six months even though BCCs are not considered to be too much of a worry.
After getting the Motley out to replace a big gas bottle and three visits to the chemist, I had a lazy afternoon.
A day for domestic chores.
