Monday 3rd

I was out early doing the shopping. I made a new appointment for Jean to see another ENT specialist in Tamworth tomorrow.

I didn't do a lot as I was a bit bushed.

Tuesday 4th

We were out early to go to Tamworth. The new doctor was very good and determined that many of the possible causes of Jean's vertigo were not happening. His best guess was that a small blood vessel feeding some part of the brain involved with balance had got blocked causing the vertigo. His recommendation was for Dr Sanji to prescribe clopidogrel, the same drug I am taking to suppress thrombosis after my stent insertion. His hope was that this would stop the vertigo thus proving the diagnosis.

We had coffee at "The Homestead" and went shopping at Autograph and then Woolworths. We were home just after two o'clock. Jean had had a vertigo turn after her shower in the morning but taken the journey to Tamworth and back very well so we can look forward to better days.

Wednesday 5th

I slept well and awoke to a clear, bright morning. Jean was also up early and feeling OK.

Jean saw Doctor Sanji who gave her a scrip for clopidogrel and a referral for a vertebral angiogram.

in the afternoon I tidied up the Motley, moving the last of the stuff to the house and searching for a missing earring.

Thursday 6th

Another clear, bright morning.

Jean had a Red Hatters morning tea with Elsie May. Elsie's friend Tina came too. They were photographed by the local newspaper and attracted quite a lot of attention. Jean was elected Queen but her subjects will have to do all the work. They plan to meet regularly and to have a Red Hatters float in the next Barraba Festival.

I had a session with the Cardiac Rehab Co-ordinator from the Community Health Service. we spent a lot of time talking about this and that and I eventually volunteered for the programme which starts in three weeks and lasts six weeks.

In the evening, we had a Lions Ladies Night dinner which was very pleasant. I had invited the Doctors Deepal and Sanji as I had promised Sanji that I would after her last visit to Lions which had embarrassed her as it was not a Ladies Night. They had a good evening and appreciated the invitation. After dinner, one of the local Ambos gave us a presentation of their new "Life - Live it - Save it" program which encourages early calls to 000 and the use of modern CPR techniques, 30 strong chest compressions every 15 seconds (followed by two expired air ventilations if you think it is safe for you) for all cases of collapse continuing all the while you are waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

Friday 7th

I did a stint of housekeeping, doing the vacuuming and dusting.

I find that I feel quite fit when I'm working but get quite tired and stiff when I veg out! Perhaps there's a message I'm supposed to get!

Saturday 8th

I found some energy and did a fair stint of lawn mowing. It was getting quite hot so I had to quit before I got it all done.

I found that iCal was going very, very slowly. I hadn't switched on the automatic event deletion so I had to trawl through a couple of years deleting stuff. It now works at an acceptable speed!

Sitting in the loo, I heard my next door neighbour's apple tree scrubbing on our corrugated iron roof. I realised that it would one day be shedding leaves into our gutter and possibly contaminating the water in the tank. When I got up the ladder to prune the tree back, I found old apples in the gutters so I was wise to do something now. This task constituted my second session of exercise for the day.

Sunday 9th

Yesterday's clouds seem to have gone giving us another beautiful day. I got some more of the back lawn mowed before I ran out of petrol and the sun beat me.

I got the Highway Wanderers Newsletter in the email so I had to do a fair bit of work to update the Chapter website.
