March 2013Unhappy weatherSunday , 24th March 2013Today it was a fog early in the morning. Later it was cloudy. Evntually it became sunny so I did the laundry which needed to be done. After I put all the laundry on the line it was getting well treated. Later it started to rain before the laundry was all dry. I left the laundry out hoping that the sunshine would come again. It did come again. All the laundry except three shirts were dry. I had to put these shirts out again and they were dried in a small time. I was pleased that we had been able to do all this laundry. Garden WorkSaturday , 16th March 2013I had seen lots of the very tall weeds on the pile of grass clippings on the north side of the back lawn The spring weather in this autumn had cuaused lots of growth. I set up my weed killer spray and spent some hours working there in the sunshine this afternoon. I had to have a shower when I came back in because I was very sweaty. I will check the life of these weeds in the next few days. I hope that they all die. My recent illnessFriday, 15th March 2013Eight days ago I had to go to Dr Gunesekera with some bad symptoms, painful spots on the back of the right side of my head. He diagnosed a disease, Shingles, and scripted suitable medication for me to take for seven days. On Tuesday afternoon this week I visited him and said I was feeling better even though I had had a dizziness symptom as well as headaches. On Wednesday morning I visited him in the emergency unit in the hospital because the symptoms had got quite a bit worse than on the previous day. He nominated me into the hospital for 30 hours and even though the nurses just gave me my own regular medication and one addition thing the doctor had recommended. The lack of any stress because of the very good care from the nurses had caused my symptoms to reduce again. I told Dr Gunesekera after 24 hours that I had to go home because I had many things I had to do and he accepted that and said that he wanted to see me a week away. Happily the pain on the spots on my head has pretty well reduced. Since then my symptoms have got a little bit worse but I am able to do all the things I have to do. Drive to the shops and put the laundry on the washing line and take it back down when it is dry. I had got a local young fellow to mow our lawns which had become very big because of the spring like weather this autumn in Barraba. He used his ride on mower and did a very good job. I was glad I didn't have to do the pretty exercising mowing job myself because that might have spoiled my condition. I was able today to drive the 17km to Glen Riddle reserve and talk to some caravan visitors to Barraba about our friendly town scheme to make them happy to be Barraba visitors. I am hoping that the disease will reduce perhaps to zero even though the medication I had been given is finished. My work as the Secretary of the Barraba Red Cross BranchFriday, 1 March 2013I have suggested to our President and Treasurer that I want to resign from this job because I have been found to have Alzheimer's disease in my brain which may affect my memory and my language. Today I worked on the preparations of documents for the next Branch Meeting, next Friday. I was be required to do all this for the next meeting as I have not yet resigned. I worked hard and ovecame some problems in my mind. I guess I could continue to do this job so I might give up the decision to resign now. If I have more trouble because of my mind problem I guess I will have to resign sooner or later. Revised: 6th March 2013 |
